Learning differences are an often contested, yet invisible issue among us. You probably know someone with a learning difference. Civil rights organizations have been established solely for the purpose of defending a child’s right to learn. While we have progressed from terms such as idiocy and retardation, the stigma of having a learning disability and/or difference still impacts our society. The stories of the individuals who have such a condition often fall out of focus, often making the stigma more entrenched. We seek to provide a view of those at our school who have an Individualized Education Plan due to a learning difference, and showcase their stories and struggles.
